A Divine Nativity - Luke 2.8-21

After Christmas 08, I was reminded of a hobby I had once enjoyed. Throughout High School and College I would write poetry, but that was put on hold when attending Seminary.

This poem was my gift to my dad and my dad-in-law:

To my Dad, who has continually pressed me harder and harder to succeed at what I set my will and mind at. You have been my constant encouragement to keep diligently working until the task is completed with nothing short of excellence, always with God’s Glory as my focal point.

To Father Price, who has set the standard high in demonstrating faithfulness in ministry, to the Word, and to people. Your example has provided one for imitation, and again, always with God’s Glory as your focal point.

To both of you, whose precision in speaking and in writing has spurned me on to continual evaluation of my own preaching and writing (however bad or good it is :D).

* * * * * * *

[1] Exemplifying the radiant glories of heaven, the imprint of God’s eternal nature,
the everlasting Christ Jesus was placed by the Father in a woman.
[2] Unending glory, eternally shared with the Father, humanity was added to Christ
A nature of humility, a demonstration of servility in becoming man

[3] Only One would know the transformation of history with the anticipation of this one miraculous moment
Expectancy from eternity past, the Trinity waited for the fullness of time
[4] Opening His eyes for the first moment, inhaling air to sustain him, Was Mary aware of what was to befall her?
With exceedingly great joy, a few shepherds knew and none other than Christ’s mind

[5] The immanency of Christ’s glory, being wrapped around an angel, brought a shadow of the Cross
Fear is comforted, for a Great joy there will be for a people
[6] Finally, the ultimate fulfiller as the Davidic King has come and establisher of the Eternal kingdom
But was it evident to all His suffering death for atonement would be substitutionary and penal

[7] Being wrapped in swaddling clothes, the fullness of God was pleased to dwell
Bringing a vision of heavenly worship, “Glory to God in the highest”
[8] Exuberant joy by the heavenly host, for in the coming days He shall long to see His seed
Finally gazing upon the Chief Shepherd, the affection and emotion stirred none can attest.

[9] Treasuring the coming King close to her heart, Mary captures each fleeting moment
No one yet fully comprehending the Davidic King, the Christ, the Savior’s authority
[10] The Birth of Christ will bring the eternal plan to fruition of making final reconciliation,
Once for all, the shadow of Calvary brought about by this Divine nativity.
